Daniel faces a test in nearly every chapter.

Nebuchadnezzar is the most talked about, pagan king in the Bible.

Besides Jerusalem, Babylon is the most mentioned city in the Bible.

Daniel gives praise to God for the interpretation of the dream.  He doesn't just interpret the dream, but he also affirms the dream before hearing it from the King!

Daniel tells Nebuchadnezzar the dream, then gives him the interpretation of the dream.  Nebuchadnezzar doesn't say a word.

Daniel contrasts the "wise men" of Babylon.  He is legitimate and they are charlatans.

Daniel tells about the statue.

Observation About the Metals.

1. Progressive lessening in the quality of the metals.

2. Progressive lessening in the specific gravity of the metals.

The image is top heavy and weak in its feet.

It has a poor foundation and is marked by instability.

In Daniel 2:36-45, the word "kingdom" is uttered 9 times.

The upper parts of the statue represented the different empires.

The average age of the world's greatest civilizations is 200 years.

Christ's millennial kingdom is the front porch of eternity.

Daniel 7:8 reveals "the little big horn" or the Anti-Christ.

The Treaty of Rome in 1957 started the European Union on its way.

The EURO was birthed in 2002 and numerous countries have adopted this common currency in Europe.

On October 29, 2004, the European Union's constitution was signed in Rome.  The EU is a revival of the old Roman empire and fits perfectly into biblical prophecy.

The old Roman empire was never disintegrated.  It was only assimilated into the other nations.

The reunited Roman empire will be broken into a Group of Ten.  We see the framework for this, today.  It's easy to see how 10 leaders or kings can rise out of this region and help unite the countries and serve their interests.

After this empire is revived, there will be a final world ruler, the second coming of Christ, and Christ's kingdom and reign.

Mike Gendron - Dynamic Deception

It's easy to be deceived.

Don't just believe what man says God says, but believe what God says.

We need to be good Bereans.

Deception began in the Garden and apostasy has been growing ever since.

Apostasy is a deliberate withdrawal or turning away from God and His Word.

The Church Age will end at the rapture of the church.

The Temple will be rebuilt and the sacrifices will begin, again.

The Abomination of Desolation will occur and the Anti-Christ will be worshiped as God.

Apostates have taken 4 deliberate steps into apostasy:

1. God's word is rejected as the supreme authority for faith and practice.

The power of the gospel is weakened by compromise.  Biblical evangelism is replaced by easy believism.

Pastors give people what they want instead of what they need

Biblical warnings to expose false teachers are ignored

2. Scripture is twisted and distorted for self-serving agendas.  "Infallible" men enter claiming to be successors of apostles.

Truth is determined by experiences.  Doctrinal error and sin are tolerated.

Satan sows his tares in the church with little resistance.  Contenders of the faith are asked to leave.

God is honored with lips, but not hearts.

3. Scripture is replaced by stories and myths.

Programs and entertainment have forced Jesus out of the church.  Love for God grows cold.

Doctrinal error is embraced.

A form of godliness exists but it is void of power.

Hearts have become hardened.  Trials expose the spurious faith and immoral lifestyles

4. The Bible is replace by doctrines of demons.

Deception is full-blown.  Lying signs and wonders are promoted as messages from God.

The church condemns those who embrace truth.

Grace is turned into a license to sin.

The church's lamp stand has been removed and judgment is now inevitable.
 

Deceptive Teachings in the Postmodern Church:

Absolute truth is rejected.

Psychological needs replace spiritual needs.

All religions lead to God.

Tolerance of all beliefs is a virtue.

Biblical authority for truth is ignored or denied.
 

Satan isn't out to destroy the church.  He wants to be an integral part of the church, so people will one day worship him as Christ.

We need to examine the fruit of every new movement before we embrace it.

Don't encourage ecumenical unity at the cost of compromising biblical doctrines.

Have you ever considered the Satan's purposes for deception?

He wants to cause apostasy, to seduce into sin, to create counterfeits to mislead, to ensnare and trap, to delude, falsify, blind, devour, and kill.

The are many warnings about deception throughout the scriptures (see Ephesians 4:14, 2 Corinthians 4:2, Romans 16:18, 2 Timothy 3:13, etc.)

Unless we're anchored by the truth of God's Word, we'll be tossed by the wind of every new doctrine.

The Truth About Deception

Those who are being deceived don't even realize it.

For deception to be effective, it must appear to be true.  People will not believe an outright lie.

The deadliest counterfeit is the one that closely resembles the truth.

The last place people think deception will come from is the pulpit.

The worst kind of deception is self-deception.

We deceive ourselves when we fail to . . .

1. obey the Word of God

2. humble ourselves

3. acknowledge our sin or the consequences of continuing in sin

4. acknowledge that bad company corrupts good morals

If we live in habitual sin and expect to inherit the kingdom of God, we are deceiving ourselves.

There are two types of Christians: those who profess Christ and those who possess Christ.

The tares vs. the wheat, the wide gate vs. the narrow gate

Listen to what your friends and teachers say, so you can discern whether or not they are truly saved.

One doctrine of demons that Paul identifies is forbidding people to marry.  This is what the Catholic Church does.

Have you ever examined your faith through the lens of scripture?

Where religious pride exists, the seed of God's Word does not grow.

Worldliness is what every culture produces to make sin look normal and righteousness look silly.

The prudent teacher screens every teaching.

Dave Reagan - Israel and the Last Days

Replacement theology means God has replaced Israel with the church because of their disobedience.  These people don't think Israel has an important role in the end times.

Replacement theology is anti-Semitic.

Israel founded the church.

The oldest Christian symbol that has been found shows the menorah, the fish, and the Star of David.

Some of the early church fathers placed blame on the Jews and implied that God was finished with them; that the promises were for the Gentiles and the curses for the Jews.

The early Catholic leaders had horrible things to say about the Jews.  For instance, St. Augustine said the Jews deserved death.

In the Middle Ages, the Jews were hated and condemned in a variety of different ways.

The hatred of the Jews was reinforced and emphasized by Martin Luther.  After they rejected the gospel and didn't listen to his preaching, he vehemently hated them and wanted to enslave them.

The Bible condemns Anti-Zionism (see Psalm 129:5-8).

Acts 4:27 blames Romans, Jews, Gentiles, you and me for crucifying Christ.

The scriptures do not indicate that God has washed His hands of Israel.

One day, those who have their minds messed up will get their minds set right.

Don Perkins - In the Twinkling of an Eye

See 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18.

The rapture is a wonderful truth, designed to encourage the church.

When you understand the rapture, you will long for it.

"Rapture" appears in the scripture as "caught up".  In the Greek, it appears as "harpazo".

The Timing of the Rapture

1. Post-Tribulation Rapture - mixed up view that usually combines the rapture with the 2nd coming of Christ

2. Pre-Wrath Rapture - the view that Christians will be raptured 3/4 into the tribulation

3. The Mid-Tribulation Rapture - the church will be raptured at the midpoint of the tribulation (after the 7th trumpet) - this view hinges on the trumpet, but ignores the fact that these are two different trumpets: one for the rapture and one of judgment

4. Pre-Tribulation Rapture - Jesus will rapture His church before the tribulation period

The rapture is a doctrine of imminence.  It could happen at any time.

We should anticipate the rapture like we would a paycheck in the mail.

We are warned against dating the rapture.  Many books have been written on the date of the rapture, but many authors have been wrong.

You'll never go wrong by sticking to the Word of God.

Many pastors shy away from the rapture, but it isn't a doctrine that should be avoided.

You must be a believer in Christ in order to be raptured.

At the rapture, the church will be delivered from the wrath to come.

At the time of the rapture, we will be glorified.  God will give us a new body!  This will be the instantaneous completion of the sanctifying work.

Our new bodies will resemble the bodies of angels.

Chuck Missler - Mr. Big Mouth

The Scope: 70 weeks

In the scriptures, when you see an apparently unnecessary detail, there is usually an important reason for its inclusion.

Satan has had different people in place, ready to be the Anti-Christ, for over 1900 years.

Psalm 69 profiles Jesus' childhood.

There is no Battle of Armageddon.  The troops are gathered at Megiddo (Armageddon) and they come to fight Jerusalem, so it's actually the Battle of Jerusalem.

The Anti-Christ will be a military and intellectual genius.

According to Isaiah, the Pharaoh who persecuted the Israelites in Egypt was not Egyptian, but Assyrian.

What is God calling you to do?  What has He saved you for?

"Raise the bar" in your personal walk with God.

Join or start a small Bible study group.

Commit to a systematic program to really learn your Bible.

There is now a voluntary "think tank" for Christians that you can become a part of.

Right now, the U.S. is building a 5,000 person embassy in Baghdad.

Right now, a huge electronic hub is being built in Babylon.  The U.S. and the U.N. are paying to join the fiber optic networks of Asia with those of Europe.

David Hocking - Hell on Earth

In Revelation, John was transported ahead in time by the Holy Spirit and he saw future events.

All that we're reading has already happened in the mind of God.

Aren't you glad that you're rightly related to the One who knows and controls the future?

The doorway into Hades is death.

To start the tribulation, we have a terrible disaster.

According to the U.N., there are 191 countries in the world.  There are over 120 represented in Israel and more are being added every year.

Fire, earthquake, and stormy winds can be used by God for judgment.

Yasser Arafat walked out of a peace treaty meeting in 1993 when the subject of Israel building a temple on the Temple Mount came up.  That's when Bill Clinton ran after him and asked him to return.

Satan hates Israel and that's why Hocking likes Israel.

Hocking voted for George W. Bush twice because he visited the Islamic sites, saw who they wanted to win the election, and voted the opposite way.

God cannot cancel or stop his everlasting covenant with Israel.

The Beast in Revelation 13 is a Gentile and not a Jew.

This Beast's heads represent empires.

Miracles don't authenticate people as Christians.  Miracles can be done by evildoers and can deceive believers.

The mark of the beast will mean economic control.

They've already put microchips in fish, animals, military people, and the elderly.  One day, the mark of the beast will involve a microchip under the skin.

The 144,000 will take the gospel to the world and may be able to speak in their own languages, like the disciples did at Pentecost.

Hell and Heaven are both forever.

You will only be truly and completely healed when you die, go to Heaven, and receive your resurrection body.

There will be 7 great plagues during the tribulation.
