"A Woman Rides the Beast" is a book by Dave Hunt. We recognize how Hunt holds many extreme, minority viewpoints regarding the Catholic Church and we do not support all of his views. Please note that this is not an anti-Catholic article or web site. JCSM simply analyzes documents (historical, religious and otherwise) and compiles information. There are many good Catholic people, despite the things their church has done and despite the things their church may do.
Revelation 17:1-6 "Then one of the seven angels who had the seven bowls came and talked with me, saying to me, 'Come, I will show you the judgment of the great harlot who sits on many waters, with whom the kings of the earth committed fornication, and the inhabitants of the earth were made drunk with the wine of her fornication.' So he carried me away in the Spirit into the wilderness. And I saw a woman sitting on a scarlet beast which was full of names of blasphemy, having seven heads and ten horns. The woman was arrayed in purple and scarlet, and adorned with gold and precious stones and pearls, having in her hand a golden cup full of abominations and the filthiness of her fornication. And on her forehead a name was written: MYSTERY, BABYLON THE GREAT, THE MOTHER OF HARLOTS AND OF THE ABOMINATIONS OF THE EARTH. I saw the woman, drunk with the blood of the saints and with the blood of the martyrs of Jesus. And when I saw her, I marveled with great amazement."
Revelation 17:9, 18 "Here is the mind which has wisdom: The seven heads are seven mountains on which the woman sits. And the woman whom you saw is that great city which reigns over the kings of the earth."
The Catholic Church bears a striking resemblance to the woman that rides the beast in Revelation chapters 17 and 18. No other city is on seven hills (except for Lynchburg, Virginia and Rio de Janeiro). No other city could be called the Mother of Harlots. Priestly "celibacy" has made Rome full of prostitutes and illegitimate children for centuries. Could any other city be called "adulterous to God". Only Israel and Vatican City claim to have a special relationship with God. In the future, will we see the Catholic Church unify religions, embrace idol worship, forget about the deity of Christ and do more heinous things?
Some rhetorical questions from Dave Hunt: Who stood and watched their Catholic counterpart murder millions of Jews? Who killed countless Christians in the name of God? Do you know who killed one another for the papacy? Which church is the only place that's also an incredibly powerful city? Which church sells salvation and the forgiveness of sins called indulgences?
