Dear Subscribers,

I hope you're well today.

If you're in or near Australia, you should check out Easterfest 2009.  A bunch of Christian bands will be playing.  Plus, Audio Adrenaline (who quit touring) is coming together for their first show in awhile.

Welcome to the new readers of this message!  Here is your Devotion, A Moment of Introspection, JCSM's Challenge, the Word of the Week, a faith-builder from "The Skeptic's Annotated Bible: Corrected and Explained," and the Quotes of the Week.  Have a fantastic week and God bless you!

Love in Christ,

JCSM's Weekly Devotions

"God's Word on Giving"

Matthew 5:42  "Give to him who asks you, and from him who wants to borrow from you do not turn away."

Jeremiah 17:10  "I the Lord search the heart and examine the mind, to reward a man according to his conduct, according to what his deeds deserve."

Matthew 7:7-12  "Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you.  For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened.  Or what man is there among you who, if his son asks for bread, will give him a stone?  Or if he asks for a fish, will he give him a serpent?  If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven give good things to those who ask Him!  Therefore, whatever you want men to do to you, do also to them, for this is the Law and the Prophets."

Insight: Christians should have a spirit of giving.  We know that we are stewards of our gifts and when we have extra, we are responsible to bless those who have very little.  Plus, God will bless us and reward us for our obedience.

Prayer: "Dear Lord, thank you for everything You have given to us.  Help us to use our things wisely.  Thank you for the needy people you put in my life.  I'll bless them with my things.  Praise You for being holy and pure.  Help us to be like You.  Forgive our sins and help us to take advantage of the opportunities You give us to give.  In Jesus' name, Amen."

A Moment of Introspection

"It is more blessed to give than to receive!"

JCSM's Challenge

Give something to someone this week!  Yes, I know you're planning to give gifts on Christmas, but plan to give this week and make it happen.  You will bless someone else and you will be blessed.

God bless you as you meet this week's challenge!

Word of the Week

epididome (Greek, see Matthew 7:9): to give over to, offer

The Skeptic's Annotated Bible: Corrected and Explained

"The Skeptic's Annotated Bible" claims:

Matthew 4:7 - Is it ok to test (or tempt) God? No, God doesn't like to be tested or tempted.

"The Skeptic's Annotated Bible: Corrected and Explained" responds:

Jesus tells the devil that he should not put God to a test.

(This explanation came from "The Skeptic's Annotated Bible: Corrected and Explained", by Dr. Jason Gastrich.  This book is on CD and gives over 4,000 answers to alleged Bible errors, regarding the entire Bible at http://www.skepticsannotatedbible.org.  There is also a 300 question workbook that accompanies the CD-ROM.)
