Hello! I hope you had a wonderful weekend. Do you have a topic for the weekly devotional message? Did you know that our 500th devotional message is quickly approaching! If you have a topic that you want us to teach on, contact us and the best idea we receive will be the topic of JCSM's 500th devotional message! We'll also mention your name in the devotions (if you don't mind). Last Friday, Kent Hovind was sentenced to 10 years in prison. Please pray for him and his family. Potentially, he could be released in 3-5 years for good behavior. In the meantime, he will be blogging and his son and his family will be taking over Creation Science Evangelism and Dinosaur Adventure Land. His son Eric has been speaking on creation science for many years and he is a gifted speaker, so he will continue and take some of Kent's engagements. One of my friends is going through a divorce and he needs your prayers. He has two children and they are in the middle of it. I won't mention his name, but please pray for him and the entire family because he and the kids are recently saved and they could all use God's blessings. Welcome to the new readers of this message! Here is your Devotion, A Moment of Introspection, JCSM's Challenge, the Word of the Week, a faith-builder from "The Skeptic's Annotated Bible: Corrected and Explained," and the Quotes of the Week. Have a fantastic week and God bless you! Love in Christ, Jason Gastrich, Ph.D. Contact Us: http://jcsm.org/contact.php
JCSM's Weekly Devotions (click here to listen!) 1 Chronicles 16:7-12 "On that day David first delivered this
psalm into the hand of Asaph and his brethren, to thank the LORD: Oh,
give thanks to the LORD! Call upon His name; Make known His deeds
among the peoples! Sing to Him, sing psalms to Him; Talk of all
His wondrous works! Glory in His holy name; Let the hearts of
those rejoice who seek the LORD! Seek the LORD and His strength; Psalm 30:4 "Sing praise to the LORD, you saints of His, And give thanks at the remembrance of His holy name." Psalm 140:13 "Surely the righteous shall give thanks to Your
name; 1 Thessalonians 5:18 "In everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you." James 1:17 "Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and comes down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow of turning." Insight: We must always give thanks to God. Every good and perfect gift comes from Him! When you receive earthly blessings, remember who gave them to you and give Him thanks. Prayer: "Dear Lord, thank you for being good and holy. There is no other like You! Thank you for giving us so much. Help us always to recognize that You are the giver of these gifts. Help us to continually give you thanks! Praise You for your awesome mercy and grace. We love You, Lord. In Jesus' name, Amen."
William Llyod Garrison (1805-1879), was a famous abolitionist
leader and the publisher of The Liberator, an anti-slavery paper in Boston. He
founded the American Anti-Slavery Society in 1833 and suffered hundreds of
threats upon his life for his politically incorrect stand that a human being was
not property. In the face of pro-slavery government, laws, court decisions,
public opinion, and even pseudo “scientific theories” that Negroes were
“biologically inferior” and therefore denied the right to life and freedom,
William Lloyd Garrison printed the first issue of The Liberator of January 1,
1831: If you'd like to have the citations for the footnotes above, please email us. If you'd like to see more quotes from those who framed and founded America, please click here: http://jcsm.org/AmericasFounders/.
If you don't have a meaningful relationship with someone under 10 and someone over 80, then you're missing out.
Strike up or renew a friendship with a young child and an older person! Your life (and theirs) will be blessed and enriched. We need all types of people in our life and we need to go as God leads us. God bless you as you meet this week's challenge!

The Skeptic's Annotated Bible: Corrected and Explained "The Skeptic's Annotated Bible" claims: Exodus 20:8-10 - God forbids the breaking of the Sabbath. But elsewhere the Bible says it is not necessary to keep the Sabbath. "The Skeptic's Annotated Bible: Corrected and Explained" responds: In the Old Testament, the Israelites had to observe the Sabbath. God wanted them to dedicate that day to Him. Jesus came and translated the commandment about the Sabbath. Incidentally, this is the only one of the ten commandments that wasn't repeated in the New Testament. Jesus and His disciples did things on the Sabbath, confirming that you could surely walk outside your house. (This explanation came from "The Skeptic's Annotated Bible: Corrected and Explained", by Dr. Jason Gastrich. This book is on CD and gives over 4,000 answers to alleged Bible errors, regarding the entire Bible at http://www.skepticsannotatedbible.org. There is also a 300 question workbook that accompanies the CD-ROM.)
God sets us free, so we are able to admit we are wrong. If you'd like to read more quotes, we have thousands in our archive! Visit http://quotes.jcsm.org.
