Hello! I hope you had a great weekend. Our next devotional message will be sent on Christmas day or possibly the day after Christmas, so we want to take this opportunity to wish you a MERRY CHRISTMAS! We have finalized an upcoming debate at The Center For Inquiry (CFI) West. On February 25, 2007, I'll be debating Dr. Eddie Tabash on the existence of God. This will be a rematch (our last debate was in 2004) and it will take place in Hollywood, California. If you are in or around the Los Angeles area and would like to come to the debate, please let me know. We are seeking a couple of volunteers to help us set up and operate our book table. You may also get the opportunity to answer some questions from the atheists who approach us. On Wednesday, Phil Wickham is playing at Maranatha Chapel. He'll be performing at his home church as the musical guest. Afterwards, Ray Bentley will be giving a sermon. Did you get your Newsboys and Switchfoot tickets? Last Friday, both bands began selling tickets for their Southern California shows. My wife and I bought tickets, so let us know if you want to meet-up! My friend and assistant soccer coach Carlos is flying to Brazil with his wife. Please pray that they have a safe trip. They're leaving on Sunday. Welcome to the new readers of this message! Here is your Devotion, A Moment of Introspection, JCSM's Challenge, the Word of the Week, a faith-builder from "The Skeptic's Annotated Bible: Corrected and Explained," and the Quotes of the Week. Have a fantastic week and God bless you! Love in Christ, Jason Gastrich, Ph.D. Contact Us: http://jcsm.org/contact.php
JCSM's Weekly Devotions (click here to listen!) "Meditate On Christ's Virgin Birth" Isaiah 7:14 "Therefore the Lord Himself will give you a sign: Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a Son, and shall call His name Immanuel." Luke 1:30-35 "Then the angel said to her, 'Do not be afraid, Mary, for you have found favor with God. And behold, you will conceive in your womb and bring forth a Son, and shall call His name JESUS. He will be great, and will be called the Son of the Highest; and the Lord God will give Him the throne of His father David. And He will reign over the house of Jacob forever, and of His kingdom there will be no end.' Then Mary said to the angel, 'How can this be, since I do not know a man?' And the angel answered and said to her, 'The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Highest will overshadow you; therefore, also, that Holy One who is to be born will be called the Son of God.'" John 1:1-4, 14 "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things were made through Him, and without Him nothing was made that was made. In Him was life, and the life was the light of men. And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth." Insight: Jesus Christ was born of a virgin. He was not a human creation, but He was and is the uncreated God. Consequently, He had no imputed sin. Meditate on Christ's virgin birth and what He means to the world. Prayer: "Dear Lord, bless us and make us like You. Thank you for being good and holy. There is no other like You. Praise You for being God and doing things that defy our comprehension. Help us to meditate on the virgin birth. Help us understand You, why You came, who You are, and why we should devote our life to You. Thank you for being worthy. Thank you for being able and willing to save us. Bless us this Christmas. In Jesus' name, Amen."

Have you really considered what Christ's virgin birth means? Don't forget the real meaning of Christmas! God bless you as you meet this week's challenge!

The Skeptic's Annotated Bible: Corrected and Explained "The Skeptic's Annotated Bible" claims: Exodus 19:5 - God favors Israelites "above all people." "The Skeptic's Annotated Bible: Corrected and Explained" responds: Jesus Christ came from Israel. Plus, Israel was the nation that God chose to bless. Incidentally, this covenant was a conditional one. God said, "if you will obey my voice and keep my covenant," then "you will be a special treasure to me above all other people." (This explanation came from "The Skeptic's Annotated Bible: Corrected and Explained", by Dr. Jason Gastrich. This book is on CD and gives over 4,000 answers to alleged Bible errors, regarding the entire Bible at http://www.skepticsannotatedbible.org. There is also a 300 question workbook that accompanies the CD-ROM.)
There are no new quotes this week, but we have thousands in our archive! Visit http://quotes.jcsm.org.
