Hello!

I hope you're having a wonderful day.

I apologize that these devotions are being sent late.  Our server went down and I decided it would be best to postpone sending them until it was up and running smoothly.  Please pray that the site stays online without any more server problems.

On Saturday, several of my guitar students will be performing at a rest home in La Jolla, California.  Please pray that it goes well.  We'll be blessing the residents with Christmas songs.  Please click here if you'd like to hear some Christmas songs that I've recorded.

Welcome to the new readers of this message!  Here is your Devotion, A Moment of Introspection, JCSM's Challenge, the Word of the Week, a faith-builder from "The Skeptic's Annotated Bible: Corrected and Explained," and the Quotes of the Week.  Have a fantastic week and God bless you!

Love in Christ,

"Every Body Needs God's Blessings"

1 Corinthians 6:19, 20  "Or do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and you are not your own?  For you were bought at a price; therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God’s."

Acts 28:8  "And it happened that the father of Publius lay sick of a fever and dysentery.  Paul went in to him and prayed, and he laid his hands on him and healed him."

Matthew 8:2, 3  "And behold, a leper came and worshiped Him, saying, 'Lord, if You are willing, You can make me clean.'  Then Jesus put out His hand and touched him, saying, 'I am willing; be cleansed.'  Immediately his leprosy was cleansed."

Luke 6:18  "And the whole multitude sought to touch Him, for power went out from Him and healed them all."

Insight: Every man, woman, and child needs God to bless their human body.  Simply put, God will make our load lighter.  He'll remove our burdens, yes, even the ones that are hurting our physical bodies.  Remember that Jesus is Lord of all.  Submit to Him and seek His healing and blessings for your earthly body.

Prayer: "Dear Lord, thank you for being all-powerful.  There is no other like You.  Bless us and lift us up.  Help us to call to You in our time of need.  Thank you for caring about us and wanting to bless us and help us.  Remind us that You are faithful.  Forgive us for not running to You earlier and more often.  Purify us and heal us.  Remove our pains and aches.  In Jesus' name, Amen."

America's Foundation

Charles Dickens (1812-1870), was a distinguished English author, whose works include: Pickwick Papers, 1837, Oliver Twist, 1838, David Copperfield, 1849-50, Great Expectations, 1860-61, Tale of Two Cities, 1859, and the favorite, A Christmas Carol, 1843. Charles Dickens remarked:

"The New Testament is the very best book that ever was or ever will be known in the world."

Charles Dickens remarked:

"I love little children, and it is not a slight thing when they, who are fresh from God, love us."

In 1849, 21 years before his death, Charles Dickens wrote a work expressly for his children, of which he and his wife Catherine had ten. Entitled The Life of Our Lord, the work included the miraculous events surrounding Jesus' birth, his miracle ministry, his death on the cross and his resurrection. The work, written without thought of publication, was left in the possession of his sister-in-law, Miss Georgia Hogarth. At her death in 1917, it came into the possession of his son, Sir Henry Fielding Dickens, who made provision in his will for it to be published. In March of 1934, Marie Dickens proceeded to have it published, in serial form, by the Associated Newspapers, Ltd., of London. In it, Charles Dickens expressed:

"My dear children, I am very anxious that you should know something about the History of Jesus Christ. For everybody ought to know about Him. No one ever lived, who was so good, so kind, so gentle, and so sorry for all people who did wrong, or were in anyway ill or miserable, as he was. And he is now in Heaven, where we hope to go, and to meet each other after we are dead, and there be happy always together, you never can think what a good place Heaven is, without knowing who he was and what he did…."

A Moment of Introspection

Our life is our song of love to our Savior.

JCSM's Challenge

Submit your body to God.  Recognize that Jesus is Lord over all and that He has the power to heal you of any ailment, whether it be great or small.  Ask Him to either remove our pains or prevent them.

God bless you as you meet this week's challenge!

Word of the Week

katharidzo (Greek, see Matthew 8:3): to cleanse (literally or figuratively), make clean, purge, purify

The Skeptic's Annotated Bible: Corrected and Explained

"The Skeptic's Annotated Bible" claims:

Exodus 16:29 - No one is to go outside of his house on the Sabbath. But Acts 1:12 implies that it's OK to go for a walk on the Sabbath. And other verses say it is not necessary to keep the Sabbath at all.

"The Skeptic's Annotated Bible: Corrected and Explained" responds:

Exodus 16:29 says that "no man should go out of his place" on the Sabbath.  This Hebrew word for "place" is also translated "country."

In the Old Testament, the Israelites had to observe the Sabbath.  God wanted them to dedicate that day to Him.

Jesus came and translated the commandment about the Sabbath.  Incidentally, this is the only one of the ten commandments that wasn't repeated in the New Testament.  Jesus and His disciples did things on the Sabbath, confirming that you could surely walk outside your house.

(This explanation came from "The Skeptic's Annotated Bible: Corrected and Explained", by Dr. Jason Gastrich.  This book is on CD and gives over 4,000 answers to alleged Bible errors, regarding the entire Bible at http://www.skepticsannotatedbible.org.  There is also a 300 question workbook that accompanies the CD-ROM.)
