Hello! I hope you had a fantastic weekend. We've moved! After 13 hours of moving on Saturday and several car loads over the past month, JCSM has moved to a new office in the Clairemont area of San Diego, California and we have moved our residence to Pacific Beach. Thanks to everyone who is praying and supporting us as we encounter some trials and extra expenses. If you're in the San Diego area, you should drop by JCSM's office! The address is at the bottom of this email. If you'd like something more structured, we're going to have a grand opening party in a couple of weeks and you're invited. More details will be forthcoming. Don't forget that our 4th annual Missions, Apologetics, and Creation Bible Conference is coming, soon! It's on Saturday, November 18 and in the sanctuary here at our new address. Click here for all the details! I have a praise report! As I was wrapping up my search for a soccer coaching staff to accompany me this season, I was introduced to a candidate who turned out to be a perfect match for the JV head coach position. He's a Christian and his Dad is a pastor of a local church. Plus, he has coaching experience and a love for God, kids, and soccer. I'm very thankful that God has blessed me with a full array of good coaches for our soccer program. Please pray that we have an exciting and successful season! Did you get The Newsboys' latest album? They released it last week and it has to be the best album I've heard all year. It's amazing and nearly every song on it is excellent. I highly recommend it, so get it as soon as you can! Welcome to the new readers of this message! Here is your Devotion, A Moment of Introspection, JCSM's Challenge, the Word of the Week, a faith-builder from "The Skeptic's Annotated Bible: Corrected and Explained," and the Quotes of the Week. Have a fantastic week and God bless you Love in Christ, Jason Gastrich, Ph.D. Contact Us: http://jcsm.org/contact.php
JCSM's Weekly Devotions (click here to listen!) Proverbs 3:5, 6 "Trust in the LORD with all your heart, And lean not on your own understanding; In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He shall direct your paths." Romans 8:28 "And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose." 1 Corinthians 10:13 "No temptation has overtaken you except such as is common to man; but God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will also make the way of escape, that you may be able to bear it." 1 Thessalonians 5:18 "In everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you." 1 Timothy 6:6 "Now godliness with contentment is great gain." James 1:2-5 "My brethren, count it all joy when you fall into various trials, knowing that the testing of your faith produces patience. But let patience have its perfect work, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking nothing. If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him." Insight: God has a plan and no matter how crazy things seem to get, He is still sitting on the throne. When things seem to go bad, keep focused on God and the spiritual world. The storm will eventually subside and you'll have clearer vision, so try and see things through God's eyes as soon as difficulties arise. Prayer: "Dear Lord, bless us today and make us like You. Forgive our sins. Reveal our hidden sins to us, so we can confess those as well. Thank you for all of our circumstances. Help us to give you thanks and praise in our circumstances. Praise You for being faithful. There is no other like You! Please give us godliness with contentment. Remind us that You are near. In Jesus' name, Amen."
There is no new quote this week. However, if you'd like to read lots of quotes from those who framed and founded America, please click here: http://jcsm.org/AmericasFounders/.
God is always doing something in your life and you don't want to miss it by despising your circumstances.
Plan now to seek God during your next trial. Before too long, you'll be tested and you'll want to do something ungodly in a difficult situation. If you decide now to seek God and His ways, it'll make the trial easier. Prepare now and get prayed up! God bless you as you meet this week's challenge!
autarkeia (Greek, see 1 Timothy 6:6): self satisfaction, that is, (abstractly) contentedness, or (concretely) a competence: contentment, sufficiency
The Skeptic's Annotated Bible: Corrected and Explained "The Skeptic's Annotated Bible" claims: Exodus 14:23 - The Egyptians chased after the Israelites with "all Pharaoh's horses." But according to Ex.9:3-6 there wouldn't have been any horses, since God killed them all in "a very grievous murrain." "The Skeptic's Annotated Bible: Corrected and Explained" responds: The Egyptians had plenty of time to buy, steal, and trade for more horses. (This explanation came from "The Skeptic's Annotated Bible: Corrected and Explained", by Dr. Jason Gastrich. This book is on CD and gives over 4,000 answers to alleged Bible errors, regarding the entire Bible at http://www.skepticsannotatedbible.org. There is also a 300 question workbook that accompanies the CD-ROM.)
