Hello!

I hope you had a great week and weekend.

I'd like to recognize everyone who has lost a loved one in the 9-11 attacks.  I pray that you are comforted and blessed, today.  Our prayers are with you.  We can take many things away from that tragic event and one of them is this: Life can be unpredictable and we need to do all we can to submit to Jesus Christ and point others to Him before it's too late.

This week, our total number of SermonAudio.com downloads/listens will reach 250,000!  They host our debates, the Bible on mp3, one copy of our weekly devotions, etc.  Please pray that more and more people are blessed by our ministry!  Also, we'd like to thank Brother Davey because he has helped make our SermonAudio.com vision possible.

My debate with Johnny Skeptic is almost finished.  We have both made six posts.  I've made several sound arguments for the excellent character, integrity, and good intentions of God.  You can click here (external, off-site link) if you'd like to read the debate.  Two unbelievers have posted in the atheists' discussion board and said they believe I'm winning.  Please pray that they and many others will be converted.  By the way, this and last week's devotional were inspired by the research I did for this debate.

Congratulations to my wife Sarine who was just accepted to Louisiana Baptist University.  She will complete her Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology and Christian Counseling.  If you're interested in starting or finishing your degree and you'd like more information about LBU, please click here for a site I designed to inform you.  Recently, I was impressed when I discovered that some very influential and well known people have earned degrees and honorary degrees from my alma mater.

Welcome to the new readers of this message!  Here is your Devotion, A Moment of Introspection, JCSM's Challenge, the Word of the Week, a faith-builder from "The Skeptic's Annotated Bible: Corrected and Explained," and the Quotes of the Week.  Have a fantastic week and God bless you!

Love in Christ,

"God Has Excellent Character"

God reveals His character as excellent by:

1. Implementing His plan of redemption immediately after human sin and communion with Him was broken.

2. Revealing Himself to humankind through nature.

3. Revealing Himself to humankind through Jesus Christ.

4. Giving moral laws that have never changed.

5. Giving moral laws that are applied equally to all people.

6. Judging all people by the same standard.

Insight: God is trustworthy because He has integrity.  He also has excellent character.  There is no other like Him.  We can fully trust in God because He is good and loves us more than we can even comprehend.

Prayer: "Dear Lord, praise You for being amazing.  Thank you for loving us so much.  Thank you for giving us more than we realize.  Help us to love You more.  Increase our faith in You.  Praise You for having excellent character.  There is no other like You!  Mold us and make us like You.  In Jesus' name, Amen."

America's Foundation

Sir William Phipps (1651-1695), the Governor of Massachusetts and American colonial administrator, professed:

"I have divers times been in danger of my life; and I have been brought to see that I owe my life to Him who has given His precious life for me. I thank God He has led me to see myself altogether unhappy without an interest in the Lord Jesus Christ, and to close heartily with Him, desiring Him to execute all His offices on my behalf. I have now, for some time, been under serious resolution, that I should avoid whatever I knew to be displeasing to God, that I should serve Him all the days of my life ....

"I knew that if God had a people anywhere, it was here, and I resolved to rise or fall with them; neglecting very great advantages for my worldly interests, that I might come and enjoy the ordinances of the Lord Jesus here." ¹

A Moment of Introspection

God has excellent character.  We are blessed to serve such an awesome God.  Not only does God have excellent character, but we can trust that God has revealed His intentions to us because He has integrity and He has given His Son to die on the cross for our sins.

JCSM's Challenge

Consider God's excellent character.  Consider how things could be different if God had poor character.  Consider how God has integrity and good intentions.

God bless you as you meet this week's challenge!

Word of the Week

The Skeptic's Annotated Bible: Corrected and Explained

"The Skeptic's Annotated Bible" claims:

Exodus 12:15 - " Seven days shall ye eat unleaven bread [during the Passover]," but Dt.16:8 says six days.

"The Skeptic's Annotated Bible: Corrected and Explained" responds:

Deuteronomy 16:3 says they will eat unleavened bread for seven days.  Deuteronomy 16:8 says they will eat unleavened bread in their homes for six days, then they will go to the assembly on the seventh day; where they would also eat unleavened bread.

(This explanation came from "The Skeptic's Annotated Bible: Corrected and Explained", by Dr. Jason Gastrich.  This book is on CD and gives over 4,000 answers to alleged Bible errors, regarding the entire Bible at http://www.skepticsannotatedbible.org.  There is also a 300 question workbook that accompanies the CD-ROM.)
