JCSM's Top 500 Christian Forums - Free Traffic Sharing Service!

Hello!

I hope you had a wonderful Easter holiday.

We just added about 200 midi files to JCSM.  Midis are music files that are synthesized versions of original songs.  The ones we added are from the mainstream (although the following link has many Christian ones, too), but you won't have to listen to their lyrics because midis are completely instrumental!  Click here to take a listen.

Are you a Christian minister of the Word?  Do you or someone you know have a new, Christian ministry?  In addition to directing JCSM, I'm also a director of the Online Christ-Centered Ministries, which is a professional membership organization for those who proclaim the biblical gospel.  We have some wonderful members and benefits for them, so click here if you'd like to learn more.

On April 28, The Listening plays at the Viper Room in Hollywood, California.  Previously known as "The Rock N Roll Worship Circus", this band conveys its biblical messages in a unique style that you won't want to miss.  Here is a $5 off coupon for the show.  They are also touring with Sonic Flood, so there are other tour dates here.

The Living Waters ministry, with Ray Comfort and Kirk Cameron, is seeking a few full time employees to answer phones, take orders, and package them.  Candidates need to be within 40 miles of the city of Bellflower, California.  If you're interested in more information, you can read about it and fill out an online application here.

Welcome to the new readers of this message!  Here is your Devotion, A Moment of Introspection, JCSM's Challenge, the Word of the Week, a faith-builder from "The Skeptic's Annotated Bible: Corrected and Explained," and the Quotes of the Week.  Have a fantastic week and God bless you!

Love in Christ,

Jason Gastrich

"The New Testament Holy Spirit"

Joel 2:28, 29  "And it shall come to pass afterward that I will pour out My Spirit on all flesh; your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, your old men shall dream dreams, your young men shall see visions.  And also on My menservants and on My maidservants I will pour out My Spirit in those days."

Acts 1:4, 5  "And being assembled together with them, He commanded them not to depart from Jerusalem, but to wait for the Promise of the Father, 'which,' He said, 'you have heard from Me; for John truly baptized with water, but you shall be baptized with the Holy Spirit not many days from now.'"

Acts 2:1-4  "When the Day of Pentecost had fully come, they were all with one accord in one place.  And suddenly there came a sound from heaven, as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled the whole house where they were sitting.  Then there appeared to them divided tongues, as of fire, and one sat upon each of them.  And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance."

Acts 13:52  "And the disciples were filled with joy and with the Holy Spirit."

1 Corinthians 6:19, 20  "Or do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and you are not your own?  For you were bought at a price; therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God’s."

Insight: In the Old Testament, the Holy Spirit came on people, but didn't dwell in them forever.  However, He was prophesied to live inside Christians and empower them and He began doing this in the New Testament.  Be thankful that the Holy Spirit will never leave.

Prayer: "Dear Lord, thank you for your Word and how it contains amazing prophecies and fulfillments.  There is no other book like it.  Praise You for giving us your Holy Spirit and having it live within us.  Thank you for giving us the Helper, the Comforter, and the Teacher.  Let us be sensitive to the Holy Spirit's prompting.  In Jesus' name, Amen."

"It being very necessary for the good and prosperity of this province that our principal care be, in obedience to the laws of God, to endeavor as much as in us lyeth the extirpation of all sorts of looseness and profanity, and to unite in the fear and love of God and one another, ...

"Take due care that all laws made and provided for the suppression of vice and encouraging of religion and virtue, particularly the observance of the Lord's day, be duly put into execution." ¹

A Moment of Introspection

Some say that God is never silent.  However, in a society where everything is trying to capture our attention, this may be difficult to realize.

JCSM's Challenge

Take some time to be silent and listen for God's Spirit to speak to you.  Go to a quiet place and quiet your thoughts.  Ask Him to speak to you and He will.

God bless you as you meet this week's challenge!

Word of the Week

pneuma (Greek, see 1 Corinthians 6:19): a current of air, breath, spirit, soul, God, Holy Spirit

The Skeptic's Annotated Bible: Corrected and Explained

"The Skeptic's Annotated Bible" claims:

Exodus 2:14-15 "Moses feared" and "fled from the face of Pharaoh." But Heb.11:27 says that Moses did not fear the Pharaoh.

"The Skeptic's Annotated Bible: Corrected and Explained" responds:

Hebrews 11:27 was referring to Moses' great faith in delivering the decrees of the plagues on Egypt to the Pharaoh.

(This explanation came from "The Skeptic's Annotated Bible: Corrected and Explained", by Jason Gastrich.  This book is on CD and gives over 4,000 answers to alleged Bible errors, regarding the entire Bible at http://www.skepticsannotatedbible.org.  There is also a 300 question workbook that accompanies the CD-ROM.)

Quotes of the Week

A nicely worded question can work just as good as an angry threat.

Avoid obsessing about fashion trends.

God will always be true; true to His word and true to you.
