JCSM's Weekly Devotions (click here to listen!) Matthew 5:14-16 "You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden. Nor do they light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a lampstand, and it gives light to all who are in the house. Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven." 2 Timothy 4:1-2 "I charge you therefore before God and the Lord Jesus Christ, who will judge the living and the dead at His appearing and His kingdom: Preach the word! Be ready in season and out of season. Convince, rebuke, exhort, with all longsuffering and teaching." 1 Peter 3:15 "But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts, and always be ready to give a defense to everyone who asks you a reason for the hope that is in you, with meekness and fear." Matthew 28:19, 20 "Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.' Amen." Hebrews 13:2 "Do not forget to entertain strangers, for by so doing some have unwittingly entertained angels." Insight: Everyone is expected to have a Christian ministry. Some minister to a handful of people, while others minister to millions. Either way, we are to be prepared, know the scriptures, and encourage others to trust and follow Jesus Christ. Prayer: "Dear Lord, bless us and remind us that we are all Christian ministers of your Word. Help us to take advantage of the opportunities You give us to minister to others. Praise You for being a good God and love us, despite our shortcomings and failures. Increase our faith in You and our love for You and others. Increase our ministry as well. In Jesus' name, Amen."

Have you heard God's voice, lately? If you haven't, find out why.
Recognize the fact that you are called to Christian ministry. Whether you're to minister to your family, a group of 8th graders, a church, or a mission field, you need to take your calling seriously. Obey the scriptures above and you will be in good shape, as you become a better minister of Christ. God bless you as you meet this week's challenge!

The Skeptic's Annotated Bible: Corrected and Explained "The Skeptic's Annotated Bible" claims: Exodus 1:5, 7 - The Israelite population went from 70 (or 75) to several million (Ex.12:37) in a few hundred years. "The Skeptic's Annotated Bible: Corrected and Explained" responds: Exodus 12:37 says there were six hundred thousand men at this time. If you count their wives and children and the several hundred years in Egypt, this isn't an unthinkable amount of people. (This explanation came from "The Skeptic's Annotated Bible: Corrected and Explained", by Jason Gastrich. This book is on CD and gives over 4,000 answers to alleged Bible errors, regarding the entire Bible at http://www.skepticsannotatedbible.org. There is also a 300 question workbook that accompanies the CD-ROM.)
Can you receive God's forgiveness after you sin and repent?
Which sin is hardest to get off your mind? Sinning is bad. Hiding our sin is worse. Sin will be exposed; sooner or later. Sometimes, our secret sins get exposed to others so we will be motivated to repent. If you cover your sins, you won't prosper. One sin can quickly lead to another sin. Confess your sins and repent as quickly as possible. One person's sin hurts many. God will forgive your sins, but you may still reap the consequences. The Old Testament stories help us understand the consequences of sin. A transgression is a willful, planned sin. Sin will effect you emotionally and physically. If you're a child of God, you won't get away with your sin. You can't understand God's peace in your life until you repent and accept His forgiveness. Do you still feel the Holy Spirit's conviction in your life? If you can sin without feeling the Spirit's conviction, you're in a dangerous place.
