Hello!

I hope you had a wonderful weekend.

On Tuesday, P.O.D. releases their newest album.  It's called Testify.  In case you are unfamiliar with P.O.D., they are the biggest, Christian crossover band in the world.  No other band with such outspoken, Christian beliefs has ever made such an impact in the secular music industry.  Plus, they have pioneered an entire genre of music.  I like their Satellite album the best, but this one will certainly be worth a try.

This weekend we are going to build a house in Tijuana for a homeless family.  It should be a wonderful experience.  These houses are small, by our standards, and cost $750 for materials.  We have been seeking people to pray for the trip, come with us, and donate for the materials.  If you'd like to do any of those things, you will be blessed.  Please see here for pictures of past trips.  These poor people seriously need our help.

Would you like to join JCSM's Fasting and Prayer program?  Each Tuesday in 2006, we will be fasting.  If you'd like more information, please reply or click here.

I'm sorry that these devotions are a few hours late.  Due to high winds, we had a power outage last night.  Please pray that there is no damage in our community.  The winds are supposed to be very strong again, tonight.

Welcome to the new readers of this message!  Here is your Devotion, A Moment of Introspection, JCSM's Challenge, the Word of the Week, a faith-builder from "The Skeptic's Annotated Bible: Corrected and Explained," and the Quotes of the Week.  Have a fantastic week and God bless you!

Love in Christ,

Jason Gastrich

"The Unregenerate Unbeliever"

Mark 6:5-7  "Now He could do no mighty work there, except that He laid His hands on a few sick people and healed them.  And He marveled because of their unbelief. Then He went about the villages in a circuit, teaching.  And He called the twelve to Himself, and began to send them out two by two, and gave them power over unclean spirits."

Luke 17:5, 6  "And the apostles said to the Lord, 'Increase our faith.'  So the Lord said, 'If you have faith as a mustard seed, you can say to this mulberry tree, ‘Be pulled up by the roots and be planted in the sea,’ and it would obey you."

2 Corinthians 6:14, 15  "Do not be unequally yoked together with unbelievers. For what fellowship has righteousness with lawlessness?  And what communion has light with darkness?  And what accord has Christ with Belial?  Or what part has a believer with an unbeliever?"

1 Timothy 5:8  "But if anyone does not provide for his own, and especially for those of his household, he has denied the faith and is worse than an unbeliever."

Insight: The Bible says a good deal about unbelief.  It is condemned, yet it can be remedied.  Christians should avoid serious relationships with unbelievers.  The apostles walked with Jesus and knew they need more faith, so they asked Him for it.  Plus, Jesus' response to those that rejected Him was quite interesting.  He left, commissioned the apostles, and kept on teaching!

Prayer: "Dear Lord, bless us and increase our faith.  Thank you for showing us how to live and thank you for showing us our great need for faith in You.  Remove our worries and our fears.  Help us to recall what You have done and who You are.  Forgive us for our doubts.  Let us read the scriptures, memorize them, and apply them to our lives.  Thank you for giving us such an amazing book!  There is no God like You.  In Jesus' name, Amen."

America's Foundation

Cassius Marcellus Clay (1810-1903), served as a statesman and as a diplomat to Russia under both President Lincoln and President Grant. He was a strong opponent of slavery and greatly involved in the abolitionist movement. Cassius Marcellus Clay declared:

"The Bible, the record of Divine Revelation, is the one Book of religion and morals. Of all religious systems the Christian is most in unison with the law of God and the needs of man. The spirit of God inspires all living things. Jesus Christ is the leading inspiration, and is, therefore Divine." ¹

A Moment of Introspection

The scriptures foretell of end-time, false religion; not end-time rampant atheism.  Isn't this exactly what we're seeing, today?

JCSM's Challenge

Make a commitment to pray for JCSM, daily.  We need your prayers as we take the good news into all the world.  Here are specific things you can pray for:

1. We receive enough donations to work full-time, pay our volunteers, and hire some employees to help.

2. We have boldness and courage to share the gospel with those on the internet who may not want to hear it.

3. We continue to develop JCSM's web pages and outreach via the internet.

4. We keep having our bi-yearly Bible conferences in Southern California.

Word of the Week

apisteeah (Greek, see Mark 6:6): faithlessnes, disbelief (want of Christian faith), unfaithfulness (disobedience), unbelief

The Skeptic's Annotated Bible: Corrected and Explained

"The Skeptic's Annotated Bible" claims:

Genesis 46:21 - Were Naaman and Ard the sons or the grandsons of Benjamin?

"The Skeptic's Annotated Bible: Corrected and Explained" responds:

They were the grandsons of Benjamin.  The Hebrew word for "son" also means descendant.  It is commonly used to designate a lineage and not always used to refer to a literal son.

(This explanation came from "The Skeptic's Annotated Bible: Corrected and Explained", by Jason Gastrich.  This book is on CD and gives over 4,000 answers to alleged Bible errors, regarding the entire Bible at http://www.skepticsannotatedbible.org.  There is also a 300 question workbook that accompanies the CD-ROM.)
