Hello! I hope you had a great weekend. We apologize for the bookmark links in last week's devotions. Our email company (zinester.com) changed them by accident, so when you tried to go to different places on the devotional message, you went to their site. We hope this doesn't happen any more, but if it does, please simply scroll down. This Saturday, I'm one year older. I don't feel any older. I only feel older when I see my 2 1/2 year old daughter getting older. Haha. All joking aside, I'm 31 on August 13th, so please pray we have a nice time with my family this weekend. Jeff Deyo released a new album last week. It's called Surrender. Have you had a chance to get it, yet? I'm making another note on my calendar to go and pick it up because I'm sure it's as high-energy and worshipful as his last album. Do you want to support JCSM, but lack the money to join us in our efforts to reach the lost and encourage the believers? Don't worry because we have found a way! JCSM is a Mission Fish member; which is eBay's non-profit organization company that lets you have an eBay auction and designate your winning bid to our organization! JCSM's Weekly Devotions (click here to listen!) "Where Should and Shouldn't I Run?" Jude 1:11 "Woe to them! For they have gone in the way of Cain, have run greedily in the error of Balaam for profit, and perished in the rebellion of Korah." Psalm 1:1, 2 "Blessed is the man Who walks not in the counsel of the ungodly, Nor stands in the path of sinners, Nor sits in the seat of the scornful; But his delight is in the law of the LORD, And in His law he meditates day and night." Proverb 18:10 "The name of the LORD is a strong tower; The righteous run to it and are safe." 1 Corinthians 9:24 "Do you not know that those who run in a race all run, but one receives the prize? Run in such a way that you may obtain it." Hebrews 12:1, 2 "Therefore we also, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily ensnares us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God." Insight: We all run our lives as we see fit, but are we running to please God? We must run this race to win on God's terms. Don't worry about earthly and worldly riches or accolades. Strive to have God call you a winner. Prayer: "Thank you for helping us put our priorities in order. Help us to try and please You above all else. Forgive our sins. Forgive us for worrying about other things that matter less. We love You, Lord. You are great and we want to be like You. Give us extra strength and endurance, so we can run this race to win. In Jesus' name, Amen."
James Gillespie Blaine (1830-1893), was the Secretary of State
under Presidents Garfield and Harrison, as well as the Speaker of the House and
a Congressman for twenty years. In Columbus and Columbia, a Pictorial History of
the Man and the Nation, the Hon. James G. Blaine writes:
If you're avoiding a sinful behavior because you don't want to disappoint or upset another person, you should reconsider your motives for purity. Obeying God should be our top priority.

The Skeptic's Annotated Bible: Corrected and Explained "The Skeptic's Annotated Bible" claims: Genesis 28:19 - Jacob names Bethel for the first time, before meeting Rachel. Later in 35:15, just before Rachel dies, he names Bethel again. (I guess the name didn't take the first time.) "The Skeptic's Annotated Bible: Corrected and Explained" responds: There is no contradiction or problem here. Jacob simply names this place Bethel in Genesis 28:19 and recognizes this place as Bethel in Genesis 35:15. (This explanation came from "The Skeptic's Annotated Bible: Corrected and Explained", by Jason Gastrich. This book is on CD and explains over 3,000 difficulties regarding the entire Bible at http://www.skepticsannotatedbible.org. There is also a 300 question workbook that accompanies the CD-ROM.)
There are no new quotes this week, but we have thousands in our archive! See http://quotes.jcsm.org!
