"Right Now"

John 8:11  "Jesus said . . . 'Go and sin no more.'"

Matthew 4:19, 20  "Then He said to them, 'Follow Me, and I will make you fishers of men.'  They immediately left their nets and followed Him."

Matthew 8:21, 22  "Then another of His disciples said to Him, 'Lord, let me first go and bury my father.'  But Jesus said to him, 'Follow Me, and let the dead bury their own dead.'"

Joshua 24:15  ". . . choose this day who you will serve . . ."

Insight: The Bible tells us that God wants us to change, now.  Jesus never told people to repent when they got around to it.  God's will is that we avoid sin completely and that we start right now.  Make the necessary changes today and don't put it off.  Afterwards, come up with a plan that you can use to stay holy and pure.

Prayer: "Dear Lord, bless us and purify us.  Forgive our sins.  Reveal to us our hidden sins.  Praise You for being good and holy.  There is no other like You.  Bless us and lift us up.  Give us joy and peace.  Thank you for loving us more than we know and understanding.  Help us to be diligent with our repentance and our pursuit of godliness.  We need You badly and we need You right now.  In Jesus' name, Amen."

A Moment of Introspection

Sin will be exposed; sooner or later.

Have you heard God's voice, lately?  If you haven't, find out why.

There are several reasons why we may not be able to hear God's voice.  A couple of them include the following: 1) we are too busy and don't care to stop and listen, 2) we are desensitized by committing a sin over and over, 3) we are ignorant about the.

The Skeptic's Annotated Bible: Corrected and Explained

"The Skeptic's Annotated Bible" claims:

Genesis 26:34 - One of the wives of Esau was Bashemath, the daughter of Elon the Hittite. But 36:2 says her name was Adah, the daughter of Elon the Hittite, and 36:3 says Bashemath was the daughter of Ishmael.

"The Skeptic's Annotated Bible: Corrected and Explained" responds:

Genesis 36:2 states that Esau took many wives.  In Genesis 26:34, it lists some of them: Judith and Bashemath.  In Genesis 36:2 it lists some more: Adah, Aholibamah, and Bashemath.  One passage says she is Elon's daughter and one says she is Ishmael's daughter.  This Hebrew term for "daughter" can be used figuratively.  Therefore, Bashemath was likely Elon's daughter and Ishmael's servant or step-daughter.

Can you receive God's forgiveness after you sin and repent?

Which sin is hardest to get off your mind?

Sinning is bad.  Hiding our sin is worse.

Sometimes, our secret sins get exposed to others so we will be motivated to repent.

If you cover your sins, you won't prosper.

One sin can quickly lead to another sin.

Confess your sins and repent as quickly as possible.

One person's sin hurts many.

God will forgive your sins, but you may still reap the consequences.

The Old Testament stories help us understand the consequences of sin.

A transgression is a willful, planned sin.

Sin will effect you emotionally and physically.

If you're a child of God, you won't get away with your sin.

You can't understand God's peace in your life until you repent and accept His forgiveness.

Do you still feel the Holy Spirit's conviction in your life?

If you can sin without feeling the Spirit's conviction, you're in a dangerous place.

We are free in Christ when we do all we can to obey Him because we do not have to worry about imperfection.

At the foot of the cross, we find contrition, confession, and repentance.

Jesus is our own, private lawyer that comes to our defense as Satan accuses us.
