Hello!

I hope you had a great weekend.

My e-book on internet success has been well received and we've had a surprising number of orders in the first 5 weeks!  If you're interested in growing your business, ministry, or organization, then please see http://maximizingtheinternet.com.

Lately, we've received several, new OCCM members!  If you'd like to learn more about our OCCM ministry, please go to http://occm.org.  The following three web sites have been approved as God-centered, Christian organizations that preach the biblical gospel.

Do you have debt?  Do you want to become debt free?  Kingdom Debt Solutions can help!  See http://kingdomdebtsolutions.com for details.

If you want quality, free, Christian education, then check out Ames Bible College!  They offer a variety of courses to edify the believer in Christ.  See http://freebiblecollege.com for more information.

RCL Software develops software to help win people to Christ.  They have computer programs designed for church ministry and staff.  If you're in the ministry, see http://rclsoftware.com for information about their programs.

At age 84, Dr. Duane Gish has retired.  This fine man is yet another example of someone who earned advanced, science degrees from secular universities and still knew and understood that biblical creation was true and the theory of evolution was wrong . . . (continued at http://press.jcsm.org).

This Saturday, I begin playing softball in a church league.  Please pray that it goes well.  Plus, please pray that the tendonitis that was in my shoulder doesn't resurface or cause me any problems.

Would you like a daily dose of godly wisdom?  Click http://jcsm.org/Wisdom.htm for JCSM's Quote of the Day!

Do you need a free email account?  JCSM offers free and inexpensive accounts through our BelieveandRepent.com domain name.  We give more space than Yahoo and Hotmail, plus you can use our service and evangelize without saying a word!  See http://believeandrepent.com for details.

This is your ministry, so please feel free to link to JCSM and forward these devotions to your friends and family.  On JCSM, there are over 90,000 web pages of pictures, forums, midis, Bible lessons, humor, proverbial stories, links, devotions, poetry, prayer journals, and much more!

JCSM has encouraging sermons, exciting debates, and the Bible on MP3 online and you can freely stream and download them!  Come and listen at http://sa.jcsm.org.

Visit the JCSM Study Center!  We have over 1GB of resources like English and foreign Bibles, thousands of sermons, maps, ancient literature, commentaries, Greek and Hebrew dictionaries, and concordances and much more!  Plus, it's all free.  Link: http://study.jcsm.org.

Welcome to the new readers of this message!  Here is your Devotion, A Moment of Introspection, JCSM's Challenge, the Word of the Week, a faith-builder from "The Skeptic's Annotated Bible: Corrected and Explained," and the Quotes of the Week.  Have a fantastic week and God bless you!

Love in Christ,

"God the Father Confirmed Jesus' Deity"

Matthew 17:5, 6  "While he was still speaking, behold, a bright cloud overshadowed them; and suddenly a voice came out of the cloud, saying, 'This is My beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased. Hear Him!'  And when the disciples heard it, they fell on their faces and were greatly afraid."

Adam Clarke comments, " (God) says, In him Have I delighted, intimating that it was in him alone, as typified by those sacrifices, that he Had delighted through the whole course of the legal administration; and that it was only in reference to the death of his Son that he accepted the offerings and oblations made to him under the old covenant. Hear Him. The disciples wished to detain Moses and Elijah that they might hear them: but God shows that the law which had been in force, and the prophets which had prophesied, until now, must all give place to Jesus; and he alone must now be attended to, as the way, the truth, and the life; for no man could now come unto the Father but through him. This voice seems also to refer to that prediction in Deuteronomy 18:15. The Lord shall raise up a Prophet like unto me: Him Shall Ye Hear. Go no more to the law, nor to the prophets, to seek for a coming Messiah; for behold he Is come! Hear and obey him, and him only.

Luke 3:21, 22  "When all the people were baptized, it came to pass that Jesus also was baptized; and while He prayed, the heaven was opened.  And the Holy Spirit descended in bodily form like a dove upon Him, and a voice came from heaven which said, 'You are My beloved Son; in You I am well pleased.'"

According to Adam Clarke's Commentary on the New Testament, the account of Jesus' baptism reveals the trinity.  Three distinct persons are here.  1. The person of Jesus Christ, baptized by John in Jordan.  2. The person of the Holy Ghost in a bodily shape, (Luke 3:22) like a dove.  3. The person of the Father; a voice came out of heaven, saying, This is my beloved Son, etc.

Insight: God the Father confirmed Jesus' deity.  Not only did Jesus' life and existence reveal that He was God the Son, but God the Father gave Jesus His stamp of approval on more than one occasion.  No other person could fulfill the prophecies that Jesus fulfilled and no other person has been confirmed by God as Jesus was.

Prayer: "Dear Lord, bless us and show us your glory.  Thank you for confirming Jesus' deity.  Thank you for showing us the way through Him.  Forgive our sins.  Help us to see things as You do.  Increase our love for You and for others.  Increase our faith as well.  You are a good God and we love You.  Enlighten us.  Convict us with your Holy Spirit.  We just want to serve and obey You.  In Jesus' name, Amen."

Articles of the Constitution of Connecticut:

"Article I  That the Scriptures hold forth a perfect rule for the direction and government of all men in all duties which they are to perform to God and men, as well in families and commonwealths as in matters of the church.

Article II  That as in matters which concern the gathering and ordering of a church, so likewise in all public offices which concern civil order, - as the choice of magistrates and officers, making and repealing laws, dividing allotments of inheritance, and all things of like nature, - they would all be governed by those rules which the Scriptures held forth to them.

Article III  That all those who had desired to be received free planters had settled in the plantation with a purpose, resolution, and desire that they might be admitted into church fellowship according to Christ.

Article IV  That all free planters held themselves bound to establish such civil order as might best conduce to the securing of the purity and peace of the ordinance to themselves, and their posterity according to God."  - 1639, in the articles.  - B.F. A Moment of Introspection

Every time Christ did a miracle, it was for someone else's benefit.

JCSM's Challenge

Read through the gospels in one month with me.  I'm going to read 3 chapters every day and since there are 89 chapters in Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John, I'll finish in one month.

Extra credit: As you read, mark down where the following things happen:

Jesus exercises supernatural power through miracles.

Jesus claims authority over the law.

Jesus exercises spiritual authority only assigned to God.

Jesus claims to have authority over things in Heaven.

Jesus accepts worship which was only assigned to God.

Jesus makes afterlife promises that only God can keep.

If you'd like to chat about your Bible reading, please let me know.  I can give you a link to a place where we can go and post messages or chat with people about the Word.

God bless you as you meet this challenge!

Word of the Week

yoo-dok-eh-o (Greek, see Matthew 17:5): to think well of, approve, specifically to approbate, think good, be good

The Skeptic's Annotated Bible: Corrected and Explained

"The Skeptic's Annotated Bible" claims:

Genesis 24:3 - Abraham makes his servant swear that he won't let Isaac marry a Canaanite.

"The Skeptic's Annotated Bible: Corrected and Explained" responds:

This was an excellent promise for Abraham to require from his servant.  Canaanites were pagans.

(This explanation came from "The Skeptic's Annotated Bible: Corrected and Explained", by Jason Gastrich.  This book is on CD and explains over 3,000 difficulties regarding the entire Bible at http://www.skepticsannotatedbible.org.  There is also a 300 question workbook that accompanies the CD-ROM.)

Quotes of the Week

To reject God is to reject reason and rationality.

Atheism can't give a reason for the laws of logic.

My ability, desire, and opportunity to do good comes from God.

In the Bible, Jesus talked about God being His Father 172 times.

God is the independent Creator and Sustainer of all things and the only object worthy of worship.

God knows your heart.  That's why you need to ask Him to live in it.

These quotes came from God, me, Paul Manata, and Miles McPhearson.

Do you need more quotes?  We have thousands in our archives!  They are located here: http://quotes.jcsm.org.

These quotes can be used for sanctification and fun.  Most of them are directly based on scripture and scriptural principles.  Some of the quotes are humorous or rhetorical, others are written from sermons and Bible studies, and some are lyrics from songs.  If you’d like me to go into more detail on any of them, please email me.

Like most verses in the Bible, they can be debated.  To use what I’ve written in the most beneficial way, try and trace them back to the scriptures and apply the true principles to your life in a meaningful way!  Please don’t sell my quotes or publish them for profit.  If English is not your first language, you may not understand some of the quotes.  I'm sorry, but some of them are English metaphors and deal with multiple word meanings.  God bless you all!

Please make a commitment to pray for this ministry.  As every believer is tempted and tried, this ministry faces trials also.  God has blessed me, JCSM and the people who have been reached!  Unfortunately, the enemy knows this and spiritual warfare is the result.  Please at least pray that the devotions continue to be written religiously, the web pages stay on the www and the readers are blessed, sanctified and protected from evil.  Thank you very much in advance!

Do you want to help people receive the good news?  We’re reaching new people every day with God’s awesome Word!  If God has blessed you and you wish to send a love offering to JCSM, please send your gift to the address below.

You can join our vision and help this ministry!  Your donations will keep these ministries running and further our visions for evangelism.  We host tens of thousands of web pages to lead people to the Lord.  Frequently, we make new ones and they are used to bring more and more people into a closer relationship with Jesus Christ.

Would you like to support God’s work on the web?  If this ministry has touched you in a special way, please pray and consider sending a gift to JCSM.  You can join us in our vision to reach people on the web with the good news!  Either email me for more information or simply go here: http://vision.jcsm.org.

Along with getting support, we also give support!  JCSM regularly gives to churches, Christian ministries, and needy people.  Another function of this ministry is to do counseling.  We are always answering questions about life, the Lord and everything in between.  Lastly, we do a lot of research on religious topics on the internet and library.  You will definitely see the results of our hard work and your loving support, in the web pages, and in the weekly devotions!

If you have never repented from your sins and believed, trusted, and accepted Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior, please email me!  I would love to share the gospel with you.  The Bible is very straightforward when it speaks about Heaven, Hell and eternal life.  If there is any doubt that you are going to Heaven when you die, please let me know today!  If you’d like to discover the biblical doctrine of salvation through Jesus Christ, please go here: Audio Gospel Message - http://www.jcsm.org/godsplan/TheGospel.mp3. or the Textual Gospel Message - http://gospel.jcsm.org.

Do you need to find a solid, Christian church?  I've attended numerous, Calvary Chapel churches and I've been very blessed by their Bible-based sermons, inspiring worship, and kind members.  If you don't have a home church, if you're traveling, or if you need to find a new church, I recommend visiting the following site and locating a Calvary Chapel near you: http://www.calvarychapel.org.
