"Why I'm Not A Muslim" - #367
Hello!
I pray that you had a super weekend.
Don Richardson came and spoke to Maranatha Chapel on Sunday night, so I visited, listened, and took notes. I was expecting him to tell some awesome stories about his missionary trips to Indonesia and how he spent lots of time around headhunters and danger. However, he only talked about radical Islam and the Koran. It was still an awesome lecture and I learned a good deal. Please see my quotes below for more.
On Saturday night, we had our first, bi-annual, Christian guitar recital. Three of my students gave awesome performances. They each played one original song, one worship song, and played together on "I Want to Know You." Please see http://christianguitar.biz for details.
If you live in Southern California and you aren't busy Wednesday night, you'll want to hear The Kry play at Maranatha Chapel. They will be blessing us with worship and a couple original songs. You can see details here: http://www.maranathachapel.org/info/thisweek.php.
My Peavey Escort PA system sold on eBay. I'm glad it will be going to an organization who will use it to find homes for homeless dogs. Now, I'm selling my Marshall 2x12" combo amplifier. It's a great unit and works perfectly fine. I'm only selling it because I rarely use it. If you're interested, please email me or see the eBay auction here: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=3735484665&ssPageName=ADME:B:LC:US:1.

Acts 4:11, 12 "(Jesus) is the ‘stone which was rejected by you builders, which has become the chief cornerstone.' Nor is there salvation in any other, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved."
Galatians 1:6-9 "I marvel that you are turning away so soon from Him who called you in the grace of Christ, to a different gospel, which is not another; but there are some who trouble you and want to pervert the gospel of Christ. But even if we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel to you than what we have preached to you, let him be accursed. As we have said before, so now I say again, if anyone preaches any other gospel to you than what you have received, let him be accursed."
Please see http://koran.jcsm.org for my research on the Koran.
Insight: The Koran is an uninspired book and full of errors. It distorts the Bible and the biblical Christ. The Koranic God is not worthy of belief because the Koran is full of mistakes and commands to be immoral. Only the biblical Jesus Christ can save us because He has fulfilled the Messianic prophecies and proven Himself to be who He claimed to be.
Prayer: "Dear Lord, thank you for your Word. Thank you for blessing us with a supernatural book that defies earthly logic. Praise You for being the God of prophecy. Help us understand how Jesus is the Messiah and how You intended for Him to come to Earth, die for our sins, and rise from the dead. Thank you for giving us a coherent plan of salvation. Help us understand the scriptures so well that lesser books can be quickly seen as fraudulent. Bless Muslims and help them to repent and trust Christ for salvation. In Jesus' name, Amen."
John Greenleaf Whittier (1807-1892), was one of the best-known American poets. He was known as the "Quaker Poet," as his faith was exhibited in his life and poetry. He wrote Panorama, in 1856, which included the favorites "Barefoot Boy," and Maud Muller." His other renowned works include: song of the Vermonteers, 1779, Lays of My Home and other poems, 1843, Voices of Freedom, 1846, Snowbound, 1866, Justice and Expediency, Dear Lord and Father of Mankind.
He was the editor of the American Manufacturer, the Essex Gazette, The Pennsylvania Freeman, and the National Era. He bitterly opposed slavery, to the extent that once he was mobbed and severely beaten during a speaking tour. Later, his office in Philadelphia was burned. John Greenleaf Whittier, one of the first to suggest the creation of a Republican Party, wrote:
"I believe in the Scriptures because they repeat the warnings and promises of the indwelling Light and Truth; I find in them the eternal precepts of the Divine Spirit declared and repeated. They testify of Christ within.... My ground of hope for myself and for humanity is in that Divine fullness which was manifested in the life, teachings, and self-sacrifice of Christ. In the infinite mercy of God so revealed, and not in any work or merit of my own nature, I humbly, yet very hopefully, trust." - Samuel T. Pickard, Life and Letters of John Greenleaf Whittier, pp. 264,265. Stephen Abbott Northrop, D.D., A Cloud of Witnesses (Portland, Oregon: American Heritage Ministries, 1987), p. 501-502. Peter Marshall and David Manuel, The Glory of America (Bloomington, MN: Garborg's Heart 'N Home, Inc., 1991), 4.22.
In 1876, one hundred years after the signing of the Declaration of Independence, and shortly after the Civil War had ended, John Greenleaf Whittier wrote his famous Centennial Hymn:
"We meet today, united free,
And loyal to our land and Thee,
To thank Thee for the era done,
And trust Thee for the opening one.
O Maker Thou us, through centuries long,
In peace secure, in justice strong;
Around our gift of freedom draw
The safeguards of Thy righteous law:
And, cast in some diviner mould,
Let the new cycle shame the old! - 1876, in his poem Centennial Hymn. Patriotic
Anthology, p. 395. Peter Marshall and David Manuel, The Glory of America
(Bloomington, MN: Garborg's Heart 'N Home, Inc., 1991), 12.14.15.
In poetic verse, John Greenleaf Whittier expressed:
The Word of God
Voice of the Holy Spirit, making knownOur Master
We may not climb the heavenly steeps
To bring the Lord Christ down;
In vain we search the lowest deeps,
For Him no depths can drown.
O Lord and Master of us all!
Whate'er our name or sign,
We own Thy sway, we hear Thy call,
We test our lives by Thine.
Deep strike Thy roots, O heavenly Vine,
Within our earthly sod,
Most human and yet most Divine,
The flower of Man and God! - ibid.
Have you ever heard an unbeliever accuse the Bible of promoting slavery? Sometimes, they make this argument because they say there are no laws against slavery in the Bible. I've been quick to point out that God's will for humans doesn't include slavery. See 1 Corinthians 13. I've also mentioned how God only gave laws curtailing slavery because of the sinfulness of His people (very similar to the way He gave divorce laws even though He is obviously against divorce).
Don Richardson brought up 1 Timothy 1:10. He told us how this passage condemns slave traders. If a slave could not be traded, then what good would a slave be? How long would slavery last without trading slaves? The logical conclusion from this verse in 1 Timothy is that God is against slavery. Furthermore, the spread of Christianity and the New Testament doctrines is what helped put an end to slavery.
Pray for Muslims. Seek an opportunity to lead one to Christ.
God bless you as you meet this week's challenge!

The Skeptic's Annotated Bible: Corrected and Explained
"The Skeptic's Annotated Bible" claims:
Genesis 11:12 - This verse tells us Salah's father was Arphaxad, while Luke (Lk.3:35-26) says his father was Cainan.
"The Skeptic's Annotated Bible: Corrected and Explained" responds:
Arphaxad begat Cainan and Cainan begat Salah. Genesis 10:24 simply omits one man (Cainan), however the fact that Salah was from Arphaxad is not lost. Incidentally, the Masoretic text, the Targum, the Latin Vulgate, and the Greek Septuagint support the passage in Luke.
The word "begat" doesn't specifically mean "fathered." This word has been used, in lineage purposes, to designate family lines. Occasionally, it designates a line and omits a person.
(This explanation came from "The Skeptic's Annotated Bible: Corrected and Explained", by Jason Gastrich. This book is on CD and explains over 3,000 difficulties regarding the entire Bible at http://www.skepticsannotatedbible.org. There is also a 300 question workbook that accompanies the CD-ROM.)
Radical Islam is a threat to the entire Western world.
Terrorism isn't the only weapon that radical Muslims have.
When ideas are protected by laws, freedom of speech is lost.
In Canada, people cannot say the truth about Islam if it angers them. This is due to a new law.
In Ontario, Canada, they have comprised with Islam by allowing two Muslims to apply Sharia law instead of using Canadian law to resolve their conflict.
Sharia law is insane and far too harsh.
Islam wants the West to implement Sharia law.
Freedom of speech is not a part of Islamic thought.
Mohammed used hellfire in the Koran as a means of mind control.
Muslims are doomed for doubting, so many do not read the Koran.
Mohammed used thousands of pronouns without antecedents; making the Koran very confusing.
For centuries, Muslims didn't want the Koran translated into other languages because they knew people would discover how repetitive and incomprehensible it was.
Translations of the Koran are actually improvements because the translators didn't want to provide incomprehensible translations.
Mohammed called the story of Jesus' crucifixion and resurrection a "monstrous deception."
Muslims justify Mohammed's errors by blaming Jews for allegedly changing the Old Testament and Christian for allegedly changing the New Testament.
Mohammed couldn't do miracles.
After Mohammed was rejected by the intelligent, religious Jews in Medina, he resorted to marauding caravans.
Mohammed promised fellow marauders that their death would be martyrdom and they would receive virgins in Heaven upon their death.
Mohammed endorsed sex slaves in the Koran.
1 Timothy 1:10 condemns slavery because it condemns slave trading.
When Mohammed gave moral laws, he often followed them with an "if clause" that allowed Muslims to break the laws.
80% of mosques in the U.S. are receiving large donations from radical Muslims abroad.
If you know a Muslim, ask them if we'd be better of with Sharia law instead of the U.S. Constitution. If they say yes, then you can conclude that they are a radical.
Why would God inspire the repetition in the Koran?
The Koran teaches to avoid asking questions when the answers could be harmful to the Islamic faith.
The Koran is astonishingly repetitive.
Mohammed tells the Old Testament's Exodus story 27 times in the first 89 chapters of the Koran. However, he omits the Passover sacrifice every time. Four times, he has Pharaoh asking Haman (from the book of Esther!) to build a tower of bricks to Heaven. Four times, he includes a Jewish bed time story regarding God's threat to drop Mt. Sinai on the disobedient Israelites. In some of Mohammed's accounts, Pharaoh drowned in the Red Sea, but in others he was spared.
Mohammed tells the story of Noah and the Flood 28 times in his first 71 chapters.
Mohammed tells the story of Abraham 24 times in his first 87 chapters.
If the repetition in the Koran was removed, the Koran would be 45% smaller!
Mohammed threatens readers with hellfire in 783 verses. This is an average of 1 threat in every 8 verses. The New Testament mentions God's judgment once per 120 verses.
A famous, Arabic scholar named Dr. Gerd Puin described 1/5 of the Arabic Koran as incomprehensible.
Mohammed credits King Saul instead of Gideon for defeating the Midianites.
Mohammed credits Jesus as virgin-born, sinless, and a miracle worker, but he denies His deity, His atoning death, and resurrection.
The Koran contains 190 war verses that require Muslims to do things such as behead and torture, retaliate with bloodshed, make war until Islam reigns supreme, drive non-Muslims from their homes, arrest, besiege, and ambush non-Muslims, subject non-Muslims to taxation without representation, plunder, etc.
These quotes came from God, me, and Don Richardson.
Do you need more quotes? We have thousands in our archives! They are located here: http://quotes.jcsm.org.
These quotes can be used for sanctification and fun. Most of them are directly based on scripture and scriptural principles. Some of the quotes are humorous or rhetorical, others are written from sermons and Bible studies, and some are lyrics from songs. If you’d like me to go into more detail on any of them, please email me.
Like most verses in the Bible, they can be debated. To use what I’ve written in the most beneficial way, try and trace them back to the scriptures and apply the true principles to your life in a meaningful way! Please don’t sell my quotes or publish them for profit. If English is not your first language, you may not understand some of the quotes. I'm sorry, but some of them are English metaphors and deal with multiple word meanings. God bless you all!
Please make a commitment to pray for this ministry. As every believer is tempted and tried, this ministry faces trials also. God has blessed me, JCSM and the people who have been reached! Unfortunately, the enemy knows this and spiritual warfare is the result. Please at least pray that the devotions continue to be written religiously, the web pages stay on the www and the readers are blessed, sanctified and protected from evil. Thank you very much in advance!
