"The Literal, Six Days of Creation"

Genesis 1:31 reads, "Then God saw everything that He had made, and indeed it was very good. So the evening and the morning were the sixth day."

Exodus 20:11 reads, "For in six days the LORD made the heavens and the earth, the sea, and all that is in them, and rested the seventh day. Therefore the LORD blessed the Sabbath day and hallowed it."

Romans 5:12 reads, "Therefore, just as through one man sin entered the world, and death through sin, and thus death spread to all men, because all sinned."

Insight: The Bible clearly indicates that there were six, literal, creation days.  Not only do the scriptures plainly tell us this, to assert anything else (e.g. billions of years) undermines the core message of the Bible.  The fossil record contains evidence of death, disease, and suffering.  However, if this happened before Adam and Eve, then it contradicts Romans 5:12 and the doctrine of original sin leading to the first death.

Prayer: "Thank you for giving us your Word, Lord.  Thank you for teaching us great and awesome things.  Help us to know You better.  Thank you for creating us.  You are an awesome God.  Thank you for doing things that we cannot fully understand or explain.  Let us know more of You, what you've done, and what you will do.  Thank you for saving us!  Remind us that we are Heaven-bound.  Lift us up and give us joy, Lord.  Remove our worries and fears.  Help us to understand the creation account and be able to defend it to heretics.  In Jesus' name, Amen."

A Moment of Introspection

Worshiping God in song is one of the best ways to receive God's joy.  Have you ever tried to sing a worship song and be unhappy?  It's not easy!

Lately, I've been playing and recording a lot of worship songs.  In fact, I've recorded one each night for the last 20 nights or so.  It has been an awesome experience!  God always fills me with His joy and blessings.  Plus, I'll walk around all day or night humming the song!

Don't squander your opportunities to worship God.  If you drive a car, play some Christian music and sing along.  When you attend church, join everyone in singing praises to God!

Ask someone if they believe in biblical creation!

Right now, many people are being swayed by the theory of the evolution of species.  Some of them look like monkeys, but this doesn't mean that they came from them.  Just kidding.

Evolutionists actually believe that humans and apes had a common ancestor.  However, they also believe that humans and bananas had a common ancestor, that life came from non-life, etc.  They hold false, foundational beliefs and make wild assumptions about the past.

This week's challenge is to witness to someone, in love, about creation.  Ask what they believe.  Explain to them why you believe like you do.  Feel free to use the Bible as evidence, but if you talk to a "seasoned evolutionist," then you'll need some scientific evidence for creation.  Here are a couple of links that will help: http://www.icr.org, http://answersingenesis.org, and http://www.drdino.com.

The Skeptic's Annotated Bible: Corrected and Explained

"The Skeptic's Annotated Bible" claims:

Genesis 4:3-5 - God likes Abel's dead animals better than Cain's fruits and vegetables. Why? Well, no reason is given, but it probably has something to do with the amount of pain, blood, and gore involved.

"The Skeptic's Annotated Bible: Corrected and Explained" responds:

* Adam and Eve knew the correct sacrifice that God required.  Cain and Abel knew it, too.  This is precisely why Abel was a shepherd before they could eat meat.  

* Cain's rejection of God's requirement was deliberate.  This is further seen in his reaction to God's anger.  Cain was not repentant, he did not care what God wanted and his sacrifice was not unlike Adam and Eve's effort to clothe themselves.  It was their fleshly and human attempt to do what they thought was right and best, despite what God wanted.
