Luther Martin (1748-1826), was an American Revolutionary leader, who played an active role as a delegate to the Constitutional Convention, having given 53 speeches.  He proposed the "electoral college" system for selecting the President and strongly opposed a central government which would usurp the sovereignty of the states.

He was the Attorney General of Maryland for 28 years, the longest record in American history, and was one of the most eminent lawyers in the United States.  Luther Martin described himself as being devoted to:
